joined together and provided information vital to the operation of School
Districts. The following topics were covered:
New School Accountability Legislation
The NYS Senate has been a leader in proposing legislation to guide schools
in achieving fiscal accountability.

Lessons Learned From the Road
This session placed a spotlight on the Massapequa School District and
their audit experience through the NYS Controllers Office as well as
their implementation of the legislation.

Second Workshop in a Series
The workshop has been postponed!
The Key Leaders on Long Island speakers were scheduled to present and
were called to Albany for a special session on December 13, 2006
. The workshop will be rescheduled
for 2007/2008.
Discussion with Roslyn School District
Listen to representatives from Roslyn School District discuss
the controls and preventative measures they incorporated into school policies
and finances.
Key Leaders on Long Island Panel
Meet some of the legislators who play a key role on Long Island. Each
speaker will discuss plans and directions to address critical issues facing
taxpayers and schools. Senator Kenneth P. LaValle, 1st
Senate District, Senator Carl L. Marcellino, 5th Senate
District, Assemblyman Joseph S. Saladino, 12th Assembly
District, Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg, 20th Assembly
District.
The goal of each workshop is to feature key legislative leaders as well
as school districts in the news to bring us the latest information.
